Mia is a joyful 8 year old who lives in West Kelowna with her twin sister and parents. Mia faces the challenges of severe cerebral palsy, affecting all aspects of her life including her hearing and speech, and confining her to a wheelchair. Every day poses a new challenge for Mia and her family, but getting around is especially cumbersome.
The cost of the van and conversion is $108,000. So we have a big goal!
The current family vehicle is not adapted (or adaptable) for a wheelchair, and several times a day Mia's mom manually lifts Mia in and out of her wheelchair, and then manually loads and unloads the heavy wheelchair.
After 2 years of research, scouring classified ads and gathering quotes, the family has determined the most suitable vehicle for their particular needs. With their regular trips to the Vancouver Children's Hospital, it needs to be reliable.
